Maps and directions into Earth Sciences in the Downing site

Map Downing Site

The Department of Earth Sciences (Downing site) covers the U-shaped building marked by numbers 8 and 17 in the map, starting at the archway in Downing Street (opposite Corn Exchange street, marked with a red triangle).

The entrances are marked by smaller red arrows, close to numbers 8 and 17. The main entrance is by the former, which is under the stone staircase leading to the Sedgwick museum of Geology. Reception and the Common Room are immediately found through that entrance. Please, ask at reception. The second entrance (17) is normally locked.

The site can be accessed either by the archway in Downing street or by the Botany Gate in Tennis Court Road.

A larger map of this part of town is found here, with the Department entrance marked with a circle. In this map the Bus station is marked grey close to the top right corner, which is a 5 min. walk to the department. If coming by train, one can get onto a bus to the bus station, or walk directly to the department (around 15 min. coming up Regent Street from the bottom right corner of the map).
